The Green River Chapter has just wrapped up fundraising efforts for our Fall/ Christmas Silent Auction for staff.  The festive auction items allowed staff to purchase nice seasonal decorations with proceeds going to our general fund.  Donated candies for Halloween were passed out to trick or treaters in downtown Central City.  November will introduce an event called “Dining to Donate” fundraiser held on Tuesday, November 15th at Applebee’s in Madisonville, KY.  10% of earnings from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm meals may be donated to our group.  In December, our chapter has purchased holiday ornaments to be sold to inmates at the Christmas Carnival with proceeds going towards our local CC Family Resource Center.  Also in December, KCCD has plans to donate three $50 Wal-Mart gift cards to anonymous staff in need.  The Green River Chapter plans to ring in the New Year with collaboration with local agencies.  Contact has been made with groups such as, Special Olympics of Muhlenberg Co., Habitat for Humanity, The Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, and Rotary International.  Bragging rights will also be determined next year when KCCD will sponsor a chili cook-off and local businesses were contacted to participate in a KCCD discount card fundraiser.  Our chapter is excited to introduce new ventures and collaboration within our community.
