On Tuesday, 11/16/2010, EKCC hosted the 1st Annual KCCD Chili Cook-Off, sponsored by the Cave Run Chapter of the Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency (KCCD).  14 entries were submitted into the contest.  Judging the entries were special guests State Representative John Will Stacy, Judge-Executive Tim Conley, City Councilwoman and Season’s Florist owner Belinda Jordan, and Boneal Executive Shannon Elam.  The winner was Mrs. Sarah Potter, Administrative Specialist II, who won a Grand Prize Certificate and $25.00.  Other winners by Category were Classification & Treatment Officer Jimmy Cantrell, who won the award for Favorite Men’s Chili; Offender Records Specialist Tammie Williams, who won the award for Favorite Women’s Chili; and Aramark Food Services Manager Jody Sammons, who won the award for the Hottest & Spiciest Chili.   Approximately 83 staff members were served during the fundraising event.  Money collected from the chili cook-off sales will go toward the chapter’s annual scholarship fund.  $500 is awarded annually, and a high school senior that is a child of an EKCC employee is eligible to apply.  Applications will be available in the EKCC Personnel Office in January 2011, and will be awarded in May 2011.  The Cave Run Chapter KCCD Members would like to thank the guest judges for assisting with the event, EKCC & Aramark staff that entered the contest, and all the staff who patronized the event.
